STM Launches Revolutionary Naval Defense Technologies at Euronaval 2024
STM Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş., having made a significant impact on the substantial developments observed in the defence industry over recent years in Türkiye, offers essential solutions in sectors such as maritime platforms, tactical mini-UAV systems (loitering munitions), and cybersecurity.
Under the guidance of the Turkish Presidency of the Defence Industries Secretariat (SSB), STM diligently responds to national demands while sharing its extensive expertise with allied and friendly countries through partnerships and technology exchange agreements.
STM is set to participate in the premier naval defence trade fair, EURONAVAL 2024, at Paris Nord, Villepinte from November 4-7, where it will showcase the innovative and state-of-the-art systems it has developed within Türkiye’s defence sector.
During the exhibition, STM will unveil models of Türkiye’s first national corvette initiative – the Ada Class MILGEM, Türkiye’s inaugural frigate, the İstif (I) Class Frigate, the STM-MPAC Multi-Purpose Attack Craft, the Navy Fleet Tanker Project (PNFT) designed for the Pakistan Navy, and will present its STM500, Türkiye’s first special operations and attack submarine created using domestic resources to all attendees.

STM Naval Projects
Along with crafting vessels for the Turkish Navy, STM has developed naval platforms for Pakistan, Ukraine, and Malaysia, and has exported its tactical mini-UAV systems to over 10 countries across three continents. Its extensive portfolio also includes software designed for NATO’s intelligence framework, in addition to managing the platform cybersecurity of KAAN, Türkiye’s 5th generation fighter jet. As a foremost defence enterprise in Türkiye, endowed with vast experience in diverse defence assignments and engineering solutions, STM is consistently elevating its stature in the global market.

Production Aligning with NATO Standards
STM engages in collaborations, technological transfer, and business development operations across over 30 nations, from South America to the Far East. Through its design, construction, and modernization efforts, STM formulates flexible domestic engineering solutions for the surface and submarine platforms of Türkiye – a NATO member boasting one of the most agile navies globally – and those of allied nations, catering to specific needs while enhancing mission efficiency. The advanced systems successfully utilized by the Turkish Navy are marketed by STM as supreme, cost-effective, and modern engineering solutions. With its extensive support and domestically produced weapon systems, STM distinguishes itself by offering its products and capabilities to the navies of other countries in a manner impervious to embargoes.
Türkiye’s Naval Engineering Excellence: Ada Class Corvette
The Turkish Naval Forces actively deploy four MİLGEM Ada-Class Corvettes constructed under a project where STM functioned as the principal subcontractor, undertaking numerous crucial responsibilities. The Ada Class Corvette possesses the capability to perform all primary warfare types, including AAW, ASUW, ASW, and EW. It can engage against surface, aerial, and underwater targets utilizing specialized onboard sensors and munitions, as well as external assets. These corvettes, outfitted with cutting-edge weapon and combat systems along with modern sensors, are prepared for any mission scenario.
STM, the architect and chief contractor for Türkiye’s first national frigate TCG İSTANBUL, has delivered the ship featuring advanced electronic and weapon systems to the Turkish Navy. Development on the 6th, 7th, and 8th MİLGEM vessels, which will act as sister ships to TCG İSTANBUL, is currently advancing under the STM-TAİS Joint Venture.
Moreover, STM has handed over the Test and Training Ship TCG UFUK (A-591), built as part of a project where it served as the main contractor, during a ceremony held on January 14, 2022.

STM, the Partner of Choice for Navies from Pakistan to Ukraine
STM emphasizes cost-effectiveness, continuous technical support, and knowledge transfer in all efforts, crafting alliances that enhance the defence capabilities of nations. Under a project involving technology transfer, STM initiated a corvette building program for the Ukrainian Navy in 2021, with the construction of two Ukrainian Corvettes advancing successfully.
Additionally, STM designed the Pakistan Fleet Tanker PNS MOAWIN for the Pakistan Navy, which was constructed in Karachi. Built under Türkiye’s largest military shipbuilding project in terms of tonnage, the vessel was delivered in 2018. As a principal contractor for the modernization of Pakistan’s Agosta 90B Khalid Class Submarines, STM has updated and delivered two submarines, with activities on the third currently in progress.
Having gained the confidence of the Pakistan Navy through successful project implementations, STM is now committed to building four Ada-Class Corvettes for Pakistan, applying all its engineering expertise to the project for the acquisition and integration of the primary propulsion system.
The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has chosen STM for the manufacture of three warships under the LMS Batch-2 initiative. STM will produce three corvettes for the Royal Malaysian Navy as part of the “Littoral Mission Ship Batch-2 (LMSB2)” program.
Innovative Submarine Projects
STM takes on crucial roles in submarine modernization and construction projects for the Turkish Navy. Having successfully upgraded two Ay-Class Submarines (Type-209/1200) as the primary contractor, STM is presently involved in the enhancement of four Turkish Navy Preveze-Class Submarines (Type-209/1400) as the head contractor. STM also plays an essential part in the Turkish Navy’s New Type Submarine Project (Reis Class/Type-214), which incorporates an Air Independent Propulsion System, marking a significant advancement in the realization of the Turkish National Submarine Scheme. The company achieved significant milestones with the local production of the head section (section 50) housing the torpedo tubes, positioning Türkiye among the select few nations globally capable of such manufacturing. STM’s small-tonnage submarine, the STM500, developed with local resources, is also gaining considerable attention from diverse global markets.

STM NETA: Autonomous Unmanned Underwater Vehicle
STM, a reliable partner of navies, unveils its Autonomous Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (AUUV) “STM NETA”, developed using indigenous expertise, for the first time at the SAHA EXPO fair. Created with STM’s own resources, the primary mission of STM NETA will be mine detection.
