Rheinmetall Fuels European Defense with Battle Tank Ammunition Supply

A European client has granted Rheinmetall a contract to deliver tank munitions. Valued at over €200 million net, the munitions are scheduled for delivery from 2023 to 2025. Following the substantial agreement for infantry fighting vehicle munitions announced in April, this marks yet another pivotal order driven by the current escalation in demand for munitions.

Rheinmetall stands as the exclusive single-source provider of newly manufactured 20mm-35mm ammunition for medium-caliber automatic and anti-aircraft artillery of systems such as the Marder, Gepard, Puma, and analogous platforms; alongside 105mm ammunition for the Leopard 1 and 120mm ammunition for the Leopard 2; in addition to 155mm artillery projectiles. Furthermore, the Group boasts the capability for large-scale deliveries with minimal lead time.

The Düsseldorf-based technology company ranks among the leading global manufacturers of armaments and ammunition systems. Its extensive product suite encompasses medium-caliber ammunition for infantry combat vehicles and air defense frameworks to aircraft cannons and high-energy laser technologies. Presently, Rheinmetall is in the process of establishing an additional production line for medium-caliber ammunition at its facility in Unterlüß, which will empower it to meet the rising demand for air defense munitions commencing this summer.
