Oshkosh Defense Triumphs with $95 Million FHTV Victory Order!
Oshkosh Defense LLC, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, declared today that the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has issued a contract worth $95 million for the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicle (FHTV) V initiative. This procurement includes the upgraded, autonomy-capable Palletized Load System (PLS) A2.
The cutting-edge driver assistance and autonomy-capable features of the PLS A2 ensure notable advancements in Soldier safety and enhance battlefield awareness. By incorporating by-wire and active-safety technologies, the PLS A2 aligns with the Army’s vision for a tech-driven logistics force capable of executing operations in contested settings while minimizing risks to the Warfighter. The adaptable structure of the heavy fleet provides significant potential for expansion and integration of new technologies to foster unit innovation as threats and demands develop.
“The PLS A2 illustrates how Oshkosh Defense is leveraging next-gen autonomy to facilitate human-machine collaboration and boost operational efficiency,” stated Pat Williams, chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense. “As the U.S. Army progresses its ‘transformation in contact’ initiatives, we remain dedicated to crafting mission-critical solutions that provide technologies that can be swiftly integrated into existing operational units.”
The production rollout of the PLS A2 is set to commence this year. The FHTV V initiative allows Oshkosh to provide forward-looking upgrades to heavy tactical vehicles and trailers that align with the Army’s extensive modernization strategy.
