Raytheon Secures $529M Deal to Revitalize the Netherlands’ Patriot Defense System
Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, has been granted a $529 million contract to provide the Netherlands with a Patriot® air and missile defense system fire unit along with associated equipment. This agreement aids in the replacement of a Patriot fire unit that was donated to Ukraine.
The direct commercial sales agreement encompasses a single fire unit, which includes a radar, launchers, command and control centers, and various support apparatus.
“Raytheon is dedicated to collaborating with the Dutch as they continue to enhance their integrated air and missile defense capabilities,” stated Pete Bata, senior vice president of Global Patriot at Raytheon. “The Netherlands’ investment in the Patriot system guarantees collective security and deterrence throughout Europe.”
The Patriot system is the only combat-tested ground-based air and missile defense solution worldwide, capable of countering advanced long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and a diverse range of air-breathing threats. Patriot serves as the backbone of air defense for 19 nations, continuously proving its efficiency against sophisticated aerial threats and large-scale complex raid operations.
Operations related to this contract will primarily take place in Andover, Massachusetts, and Huntsville, Alabama.
