Raytheon Lands $529 Million Contract to Upgrade Dutch Patriot Defense Forces

Raytheon, a division of RTX, has secured a $529 million agreement to supply the Netherlands with a Patriot® air and missile defense system firing unit along with supporting equipment. This contract facilitates the substitution of a Patriot fire unit that was previously provided to Ukraine.

The direct commercial sales contract covers a singular firing unit, which incorporates a radar system, launchers, command and control facilities, and various essential support tools.

“Raytheon is committed to partnering with the Dutch as they strive to bolster their integrated air and missile defense capabilities,” remarked Pete Bata, senior vice president of Global Patriot at Raytheon. “The Netherlands’ commitment to the Patriot system ensures collective defense and deterrence across Europe.”

The Patriot system is the sole combat-proven ground-based air and missile defense solution globally, adept at neutralizing advanced long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and a wide variety of aerial threats. Patriot serves as the cornerstone of air defense for 19 nations, consistently demonstrating its effectiveness against intricate aerial threats and large-scale coordinated attack missions.

Activities pertaining to this contract will predominantly occur in Andover, Massachusetts, and Huntsville, Alabama.
