HENSOLDT’s Cutting-Edge Airborne Radar Triumphs in Acceptance Evaluation
HENSOLDT, a specialist in sensor solutions, has successfully completed the Factory Acceptance Test for its new airborne multi-mission surveillance radar, PrecISR. During an online presentation, the PrecISR 1000 demonstrated its functionalities to the client, QinetiQ GmbH, a provider of airborne special mission operations based in Möchengladbach, Germany.
About a year ago, HENSOLDT received a contract to supply one PrecISR 1000 to QinetiQ for installation beneath a radome in a Pilatus PC-12, modified into a special mission aircraft without the need for extensive airframe alterations. The radar data are managed and visualized by a HENSOLDT EuroNav7 mission system that is already operational.
PrecISR embodies the latest advancements in active array and digital receiver technologies, providing a scalable, high-performance sensor suitable for helicopters, UAVs, and fixed-wing mission aircraft. Thanks to its software-defined radar modes and electronic beam steering, PrecISR can perform multiple tasks simultaneously. It effectively detects, tracks, and classifies thousands of objects, making it capable of finding a ‘needle in a haystack’.
Its compact design, with all components situated outside the airframe, greatly simplifies the airborne platform integration of PrecISR compared to other radars. The unmatched accuracy and precision make it the preferred sensor for monitoring vast maritime and coastal regions against threats such as piracy, trafficking, or unauthorized intrusions.
Based in Taufkirchen, near Munich, Germany, HENSOLDT develops sensor solutions tailored for defense and security applications. As a leader in technology, HENSOLDT is continually broadening its portfolio in cyber solutions and innovating new products to address a variety of threats through advanced data management, robotics, and cybersecurity strategies.
With a workforce exceeding 5,600, HENSOLDT generated revenues of EUR 1.2 billion in 2020 and is listed on the SDAX index of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
