Danish Defense and Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works® Unveil F-35 Flight Innovation in Action
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Skunk Works, in collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Defence (MOD), successfully completed a live demonstration of F-35 interoperability. This success marks a significant advancement in a series of Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) showcases, confirming the F-35’s status as a powerful force multiplier, enabling allied military factions to swiftly deploy immediate capabilities that seamlessly interconnect systems across the operational landscape.
Danish F-35s operating out of Fort Worth, Texas, relayed classified data via DAGGR-2, an Open Systems Gateway (OSG) developed by Skunk Works in conjunction with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), employing commercial satellite communications and demonstrated at Skrydstrup Air Base in Denmark.
“This represented a vital achievement in enhancing Denmark’s capabilities, enabling our MDO personnel to witness in real-time the F-35’s potential to collect, assess, and distribute complex data over geographically dispersed networks,” commented Danish Air Chief, Maj. Gen. Jan Dam. “Our robust collaboration with Skunk Works has been essential in hastening the swift implementation of such capabilities, and we are extremely pleased with the results.”
“This collaboration with the Danish MOD empowered us to excel in what we do best at Skunk Works – rapidly delivering immediate capabilities at an unparalleled pace in the industry and validating it through operational flights,” stated OJ Sanchez, vice president and general manager, Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. This demonstration enhances our proven track record of partnering with global allies and displays what sets us apart: our commitment to Open Systems Architecture, which allows for seamless integration across any platform, sensor, or shooter – regardless of the manufacturer.”
Lockheed Martin is devoted to offering open architecture solutions that foster multi-domain integration capabilities among allied forces.
