Klein Marine Systems Collaborates with Exail to Revolutionize Sonar Navigation Technology
Klein Marine Systems, a leader in sonar advancements, has selected the Exail Octans Nano OEM Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) as the default navigational device for their 5900 Side Scan Sonar (SSS). This collaboration aims to enhance the sonar’s accuracy and reliability for high-resolution seabed imaging, catering to a variety of defense, security, and commercial applications.
The Exail Octans Nano OEM AHRS provides a heading accuracy of 0.5° secant latitude, along with pitch and roll precision of 0.1°, guaranteeing stable and precise attitude and heading data. These features are essential for improving sonar image clarity, increasing positioning precision, and reducing the need for intensive post-processing. The system’s compact design and low energy consumption allow for easy integration into underwater platforms, making it ideal for extended subsea missions where accurate attitude information is essential.

The Klein 5900 SSS is well-known for its high-resolution seabed imaging abilities, supporting crucial tasks such as geophysical surveys, wreck detection, and uncovering unexploded ordnance (UXO). With the integration of Exail’s AHRS technology, the sonar’s ability to maintain stability and reduce drift in challenging underwater conditions is improved, ensuring dependable and accurate data collection even in the most complex environments.
