Collaborative Innovations: EDGE and 4iG Team Up for Next-Gen UAS and Space Solutions

EDGE, one of the globe’s foremost advanced technology and defense organizations, alongside 4iG Space & Defence Technologies (4iG S&D), Hungary’s premier privately-owned large-scale enterprise dedicated to the space and defense arena, inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to investigate avenues for co-developing sophisticated unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and space monitoring technologies.

The signing ceremony transpired at the headquarters of 4iG Space & Defence Technologies in Budapest, Hungary, with the esteemed presence of His Excellency Saud Hamad Al-Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Hungary. This preliminary agreement lays the groundwork for both entities to delve into collaborative research and development in vital sectors, including UAS and counter-UAS (C-UAS) technologies, alongside advanced space monitoring and operations.

Rodrigo Torres, President and Chief Finance Officer of the EDGE Group, remarked: “Our partnership with Hungary’s defense sector – a critical ally within NATO – embodies our wider ambition to co-create next-generation technologies with innovative nations. This MoU with 4iG Space & Defence Technologies fortifies our connections with a significant European defense network, and unveils opportunities for collaboration in strategic realms such as autonomous systems and space technologies. As global security challenges transform, it is crucial to align with dependable partners to boost innovation and guarantee preparedness across emerging fields.”

István Sárhegyi, Group Deputy CEO of 4iG Space & Defence Technologies, stated: “Today signifies an important benchmark for 4iG Space & Defence. We appreciate global collaborations, and partnering with EDGE, a UAE-based entity, unveils thrilling prospects to reinforce these connections. We contribute significantly, especially in space, anti-drone technologies, and UAVs, with a special emphasis on our extraordinary PROTAR target drone system. We foresee colossal potential in this partnership, and we’re eager to bring it to fruition.”

In January 2025, EDGE formalized a letter of intent (LOI) with the Hungarian Ministry of Defence (MOD) to explore R&D initiatives, and supply CARACAL sniper rifles to the Hungarian Defence Forces, marking the inaugural occasion EDGE will provide such systems to a NATO member nation.
