BAE Systems Partners with Der’a to Uncover New Defense Synergies
Muscat, Oman – 11.09.2025 – BAE Systems and Der’a have established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at DSEI, London, to investigate avenues for collaboration in bolstering Oman’s military sector and broader national capabilities.
The agreement delineates realms of partnership across a diverse array of defence-related domains, including artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, naval vessel support and upkeep, cybersecurity, intelligence management, training initiatives, and defence industry transformation, all aimed at enhancing Oman’s national defence framework in alignment with its modernization efforts and the goals outlined in Vision 2040.
This MoU represents a significant advancement in an already established partnership, following a previous accord signed in 2024 whereby BAE Systems and Der’a agreed to provide the Company’s Nautomate autonomous control technology to clients. This system delivers autonomous capabilities for intricate maritime operations, enabling uncrewed vessels to execute missions while safeguarding personnel.
Gabby Costigan, Group Managing Director for Business Development at BAE Systems, remarked: “This commitment is a critical step to deepen our alliance with Der’a and explore fresh avenues of strategic cooperation that resonate with Oman’s overarching defence vision.
“This agreement embodies our enduring objective to support Oman’s national goals through our illustrious history of innovation, capability enhancement, and industrial collaboration.”
Mahfoodh Al Shaikh, Deputy CEO at Der’a, stated: “This accord marks a vital progression and builds upon our ongoing cooperation with BAE Systems, a foremost entity in the future of defence. Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, we aspire to collaborate with our partner to propel a series of defence initiatives including cybersecurity, asset modernization, specialized training, as well as the transfer of technology and proficiency. We are committed to nurturing a dynamic private sector and advancing a competitive national economy that harmonizes with the global market.”
Looking ahead, BAE Systems will persist in enhancing defence preparedness and delivering cutting-edge technologies and services that fortify Oman’s sovereignty and security.
