General Dynamics Secures $4.4 Billion Defense Cloud Partnership with DoD
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a division of General Dynamics (GD), has declared that it has been awarded the Defense Enterprise Office Solutions (DEOS) contract by the General Services Administration (GSA) in collaboration with the Defense Department (DoD) and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
DEOS aims to optimize the DoD’s utilization of cloud-based email and collaborative instruments while bolstering cybersecurity and data sharing across the DoD’s operations, leveraging the latest commercial innovations. GDIT will establish and certify DEOS cloud environments and facilitate the transition of existing DoD Office 365 (O365) tenants into DEOS.
The DEOS platforms are designed to accommodate over 3.2 million DoD personnel, and GDIT will deliver engineering, migration, training, and support services for these users. The DoD assesses the worth of the DEOS Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to be $4.4 billion over a decade, which includes a five-year foundational period along with two two-year extensions and one one-year extension.
“GDIT eagerly anticipates our ongoing collaboration with GSA, the DoD, and DISA to realize the objectives specified in the DoD Cloud Strategy. DEOS will deliver advanced and robust collaborative capabilities to users throughout the enterprise and down to the tactical frontier while enhancing operational efficiencies and strengthening the DoD’s security framework,” stated Amy Gilliland, President of GDIT.
“The necessity for DEOS functionalities has been further heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic, and now more than ever, it’s crucial to expedite the implementation of technology to support our mission affiliates,” she further remarked.
As part of the contract, GDIT will replace outdated DoD IT office applications with a comprehensive cloud-based solution that is standardized across all military branches globally for both unclassified (IL5) and classified (IL6) contexts. This solution will empower DoD users and mission allies to collaborate effortlessly and exchange information regardless of their location or DoD entity. DEOS signifies a crucial component of the DoD CIO’s cloud strategy, marking the largest deployment of Microsoft O365 and the inaugural introduction of O365 in a DoD classified setting.
