Embraer, a global leader in the aerospace industry, is thrilled to unveil the remarkable exhibition of its C-390 Millennium multi-role military transport plane at the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) show, occurring at Waterkloof Air Force Base from September 18-22.
As one of the foremost defense and aviation expos in the world, AAD represents a vital stage for Embraer to present the exceptional capabilities of the C-390 to an international gathering of defense specialists, aviation authorities, and government dignitaries.
During this occasion, Embraer had the privilege of displaying all the attributes of the C-390 Millennium to the president of South Africa, the Honourable Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, along with the Minister of Defense, Mrs. Angie Motshekga. This next-gen aircraft also attracted significant attention from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), which had the opportunity to examine it.
“Embraer acknowledges the expertise and dedication of the SANDF in the ongoing effort to upgrade its aging fleet of transport aircraft, as the C-390 stands as a strategically significant asset that offers remarkable versatility, range, and speed. We are confident that it is well-prepared to meet the demands of the South African National Defense Force along with other governmental agencies,” remarked Bosco da Costa Junior, president and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
“The South African National Defense Force has evaluated the C-390 Millennium, and we appreciate the comprehensive range of capabilities and technology that we have investigated. SANDF is keen on the C-390 Millennium as it moves through the crucial stages for selecting the essential strategic lift capability for the SANDF,” stated a representative from the South African National Defence Force.
This aircraft is especially esteemed for its capability to transport up to 26 tons of freight at high speeds and conduct a wide array of missions at any given time under the most demanding operational conditions. Since 2019, the C-390 Millennium has demonstrated its operational efficiency for users by carrying out tactical transportation of troops, goods, vehicles, and equipment; medical evacuations; disaster response; humanitarian aid; rapid crisis management; search and rescue missions; aerial refueling; and firefighting operations.
As the most advanced aircraft in its category, the C-390 is equipped with a state-of-the-art avionics suite and innovative mission software for unmatched operational success. The C-390 Millennium, a proven workhorse, has been selected by Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, The Netherlands, Austria, South Korea, and the Czech Republic.
