Innovative Alliance: Hensoldt and L3Harris Team Up for NATO’s Cutting-Edge Surveillance Initiative
Sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT in collaboration with L3Harris Technologies are uniting efforts to create advanced capabilities for NATO’s Alliance Future Surveillance and Control (AFSC) initiative. Both enterprises have finalized a strategic partnership agreement to merge their unique expertise in platform-agnostic mission solutions.
As part of their collaboration, HENSOLDT, leveraging its extensive experience in the development and production of sensors and mission systems, will provide capabilities including active and passive sensors, sensor data fusion, and network management functionalities.
“The future of surveillance necessitates a smart approach to platform-agnostic, interconnected high-performance sensors, AI-driven data analysis, and distribution,” expressed Jürgen Halder, Head of Strategic Projects at HENSOLDT’s Spectrum Dominance division. “With complementary strengths, L3Harris and HENSOLDT are perfectly positioned to deliver optimal solutions for NATO.”
“Our team will investigate open architectures, multi-functional solutions, and data-centric strategies to maintain the NATO Alliance’s military superiority from 2035 and beyond,” stated Dave Johnson, Vice President of Strategy for Integrated Mission Systems at L3Harris. Both L3Harris and HENSOLDT are integral parts of an international coalition that amalgamates NATO nations’ industrial prowess in surveillance and control. This coalition will assess technological risks and the feasibility of components within its systems-of-systems framework to boost the NATO Alliance’s capabilities into 2035 and further. L3Harris’ global collaborators share a unified vision: to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of upcoming NATO military operations via the acquisition and integration of a comprehensive multi-domain (AFSC) capability focused on a data-centric enterprise.
