Egypt Soars to New Heights: Welcoming the C-130J Super Hercules into Its Air Force Arsenal with Lockheed Martin

The Egyptian Armed Forces announced today at the Egypt International Air Show that Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will supply two C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters to the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) through a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) alongside the U.S. Air Force. Egypt has now become the 23rd nation to join the worldwide Super Hercules operation community.

Regarded as the most advanced and established tactical airlifter worldwide, the C-130J-30 provides enhanced capabilities, greater flexibility, and increased power for EAF personnel. Egypt boasts one of the largest C-130H fleets globally, significantly influencing the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region by facilitating military, peacekeeping, humanitarian, and natural disaster response operations. Egypt joins seven MENA countries that have chosen the C-130J as their preferred medium-sized tactical airlifter and refueling aircraft.

“Egypt is a valued C-130 operator, leveraging its Hercules fleet to satisfy some of the most challenging mission requirements,” remarked Rod McLean, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime Missions division. “Welcoming Egypt into the C-130J Super Hercules global fleet is an honor that truly reflects the lasting partnership between our two nations and Lockheed Martin. With these new C-130J-30s, the Egyptian Air Force’s tactical airlift capability will deliver unmatched abilities and coordinated force enhancement to support operations in Egypt, North Africa, and globally.”

Continuously evolving, endlessly innovating, and ready for future challenges, the Super Hercules leads the charge in setting standards and shaping the future of tactical airlift missions, offering numerous advantages that no other medium-sized tactical airlifter can rival in terms of production or operation today. To date, Lockheed Martin has delivered over 545 C-130Js, with the Super Hercules global fleet surpassing 3 million flight hours.

Super Hercules features include proven operational readiness with seamless transition, enhanced reliability, superior tactical airlift and combat airdrop capabilities, certification from over 20 aviation authorities, and improved survivability. The C-130J also offers exceptional interoperability with NATO and allied nations, strong industrial partnerships, and confirmed low life-cycle expenses with significant fuel efficiencies, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint compared to other medium-sized jet airlifters.
