“Collaboration Unleashed: MBDA and Naval Group Innovate Remote Assistance Technologies”
The remote support service implemented by Naval Group and MBDA for the French Navy meets several aims: deliver swift diagnostics and a resolution for repairs to naval systems operators in every location and under all conditions.
Remote support is a secure, end-to-end encrypted multimedia communications system that connects the vessel with onshore support facilities. It allows the crew to establish a completely confidential, real-time dialogue with the French Navy and other governmental and/or industry specialists to; aid diagnostics during malfunctions; enhance autonomy for maintenance staff; and assist in the preparation for maintenance periods upon returning from missions. Consequently, remote support can significantly boost the operational readiness of ships.
The implementation of remote support has already commenced with the multi-mission frigates (FREMM) and the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, in addition to the Toulon Fleet Support Service (SSF), the Brest SSF, linking them with MBDA and Naval Group’s industrial sites.
Pascal Gendre, MBDA Group Customer Support & Services Director, emphasizes that “We fully recognize the vital importance of our products and systems for the armed forces, and MBDA has consistently made it a priority to collaborate with its clients throughout the lifecycle of their equipment, ensuring them a high degree of operational readiness. Today we are proud, alongside Naval Group, to offer our assistance to the brave women and men dedicated to the defense of our nation, at any time, wherever they may be.”
Vincent Martinot-Lagarde, Naval Group Director of Services, states: “This remote support solution crafted with MBDA plays a crucial role in providing our clients enhanced operational readiness of their vessels. The remote assistance service enables concurrent discussions between the French Navy fleet support service and the crew of a vessel to assist them and resolve a technical issue at sea. Additionally, the remote support kit can be deployed as part of the preparations for a maintenance period for an overhaul of the vessel.”
