Empowering Vision 2030: MBDA’s Role at WDS 2024

Advancing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 via collaboration is the primary objective of MBDA’s involvement at the World Defence Show 2024. The firm has an enduring partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, underscored by the recent Memorandum of Understanding revealed by SAMI (Saudi Arabian Military Industries) in March 2022, which lays the groundwork for ongoing cooperation in the foreseeable future with the European defence firm.

MBDA is indeed a distinctive multi-national European consortium, a global frontrunner in the realm of intricate weapon systems, playing a pivotal role in ensuring national security. The company firmly believes in the strength of collaboration, which is the foundation of its operations, alongside innovation, and stands as the sole European entity capable of designing and fabricating complex weaponry to satisfy the comprehensive spectrum of existing and prospective operational demands of the three branches of armed forces (land, sea, and air).

At WDS, MBDA is demonstrating its extensive collection of cutting-edge systems in support of aerial, terrestrial, and maritime defence.

MBDA is at the leading edge of air defence innovations: from the very short-range capabilities of the Mistral family, through the medium air defence illustrated here by the CAMM family, and up to the newly developed Aster B1 showcased, the company demonstrates its ability to encompass all tiers of air defence.

A groundbreaking innovation is the MBDA Sky Warden system, capable of managing the complete C-UAS kill chain from detection to neutralisation. Designed to function either as an integrated element in a layered air defence framework or as a standalone unit, Sky Warden boasts a modular, scalable, and adaptable architecture that can align with specific complex operational scenarios.

Meteor, the world’s most advanced Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile, exemplifies MBDA’s collaborative spirit and is transforming 21st century air-to-air warfare. It is already integrated on platforms such as the Eurofighter, Rafale, and Gripen, and is presently being integrated into the F-35 fighter jet.

Alongside Meteor at the MBDA stand (F12.1) at WDS, Storm Shadow and Spear are prominently featured, enhancing the air systems on display.

The naval sector is well represented by Exocet MM40 B3C and Sea Venom, while VL Mica NG is showcased at the SAMI booth alongside Mistral and CAMM; land systems on exhibit include Brimstone and the newly introduced Akeron MP. Akeron, the sole combat-proven missile of the 5th generation currently in service, is also displayed. It has been operationally tested and validated in extreme environments (desert and sub-arctic climates). The system’s design incorporates the growth potential required for future modern land combat systems.

MBDA delivers a comprehensive solution to foster local growth and advancement through industrial partnership and collaboration.
