“Roketsan Launches ALKA: Pioneering a New Era in Drone Security”

The Turkish defense corporation Roketsan’s laser-guided energy weapon system, ALKA, is crucial in countering small drone threats.

In a recently released statement, the firm revealed that the ALKA laser system excels at protecting vital military installations and governmental sites from challenges that are hard to address with conventional weaponry.

The organization elaborated that the evolution of threats has accelerated with technological innovations, necessitating the development of advanced defense systems.

Since 2019, ALKA has successfully neutralized numerous small and mini drone threats, as noted in the announcement.

It has the capability to monitor 100 targets simultaneously through its drone detection radar, ensuring reliable aerial protection within a range of 750 to 1500 meters.

Roketsan indicated that the laser system operates effectively both day and night, can be utilized in urban settings, and is capable of detonating roadside improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and unexploded ordnance (UXO).

In the organization’s statement, General Manager Murat İkinci emphasized that ALKA stands out for its capability to track and counter multiple threats at once using its specialized detection radar, in addition to its effectiveness in repelling drone attacks.

İkinci further mentioned that ALKA will contribute to the “Iron Dome” project, which aims to establish a layered aerial defense across Turkish territory.

He concluded by stating, “Following its incorporation into the arsenal of the Turkish Armed Forces, we are actively seeking opportunities to export ALKA to allied and partner nations.”
