Celebrating 25 Years: Rosoboronexport’s Global Legacy in Defense Supply

Russian weaponry exports to over 120 international partners via the state arms trading corporation Rosoboronexport, a division of the Rostec state group, have surpassed $230 billion.

“It is reassuring to recognize that despite substantial obstacles, the firm has persisted as a vital participant in the worldwide defense market with collaborations extending across more than 120 nations. Such extensive efforts bolster the financial durability and stability of the national defense sector, affirms Russia’s reputation as a trustworthy supplier of military goods and technologies, and facilitates the establishment of robust strategic partnerships and alliances with diverse nations,” stated Russian President Vladimir Putin while congratulating Rosoboronexport on its 25th anniversary.

“Over the last 25 years, Rosoboronexport has emerged as a frontrunner in the global arms marketplace, significantly augmenting its order portfolio and supply volumes. The company has finalized over 30,000 agreements with associates and shipped products to more than 120 nations, amounting to over $230 billion,” proclaimed Rostec’s CEO Sergey Chemezov.

In May, Rosoboronexport announced the signing of more than 20 agreements valued at $7 billion since the commencement of 2025.

“Currently, the majority of the systems provided by Rosoboronexport to its clients have undergone extensive combat evaluation. Our clientele analyzes this experience and draws conclusions favoring our offerings,” highlighted Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev.

As noted in the Military Yearbook 2026 by the Centre for Analysis of World Arms Trade, the spectrum of defense solutions delivered to international clients is exceedingly broad and encompasses all branches of armed forces.

“A contract for delivering S-400 Triumph SAM systems to India, finalized on October 5, 2018, during the India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit in Delhi, stands as the largest in Rosoboronexport’s history. Besides India, the S-400 systems are operational in Belarus, China, and Turkey. A contract to provide Triumph systems to China also ranks among the largest in the company’s history. The agreement to supply these systems to Turkey is noteworthy as this nation opted for Russian solutions over those from its NATO allies,” mentions the Military Yearbook 2026.

It further indicates that the company operates adaptively and proficiently within the global arms and military equipment sector, providing international clients with a variety of contemporary payment options and mutually advantageous offset arrangements.

Rosoboronexport (a part of Rostec State Corporation) is Russia’s sole state-regulated intermediary for the export and import of the entire spectrum of military and dual-purpose goods, technologies, and services.
