Safran Unveils Game-Changing ACE AI Innovation for Embedded Solutions

During Eurosatory 2024, Safran Electronics & Defense is unveiling its Advanced Cognitive Engine (ACE) artificial intelligence platform. Its objective is to incorporate AI functionalities into all Safran Electronics & Defense products to provide superior situational awareness, enhanced decision support, and diminished cognitive load for personnel in the field.

ACE will elevate target detection, classification, and identification proficiency by compensating for environmental influences such as atmospheric disturbances and low visibility conditions. Additional features like sophisticated tracking and automated target recognition will assist operators in executing missions by alleviating their cognitive stresses. Each functionality can be customized to distinct environments—vast plains, arid deserts, dense jungles, etc.—for optimal efficiency.

These comprehensive functionalities, termed “ACE on board,” will be incorporated into all devices, encompassing land vehicles, aircraft, and naval sights, in addition to portable optronics solutions. ACE will also be compatible with Safran Electronics & Defense UAVs and robotic systems, empowering operators to oversee and administer their fleets with greater efficacy.

ACE addresses the ethical dilemmas associated with AI utilization: every capability ensures that the user remains central to the decision-making and action process.

“It’s crucial yet entirely natural for us to discuss AI at this year’s exposition,” stated Alexandre Ziegler, EVP Defense Division, Safran Electronics & Defense. “By leveraging our profound expertise in this arena, alongside our state-of-the-art imaging technologies, we are delivering significant enhancements in performance for our clientele.”

Initially offered on an external processor, these innovative functionalities will be integrated into the equipment through specialized electronics. The ACE solution will receive biannual updates to align with the continuously evolving operational landscape.
