
SAMI Unveils Cutting-Edge Production Line for Software-Defined Radio Systems in Saudi Arabia
This manufacturing line, in partnership with L3Harris Technologies and the SAMIL3Harris Joint Venture, is established at SAMI-AEC, a national frontrunner for decades in electronic production expertise, which will create these market-leading radio systems domestically in Riyadh.
With the alliance with the Ministry of Defence and the backing of the General Authority of Military Industry (GAMI), Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), a fully-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), is excited to declare its recent initiatives in enhancing the Saudi defense sector by launching a new production line devoted to software-defined multi-band radio systems (SDRs).
This manufacturing line, in partnership with L3Harris Technologies and the SAMIL3Harris Joint Venture, is established at SAMI-AEC, a national frontrunner for decades in electronic production expertise, which will create these market-leading radio systems domestically in Riyadh.
Eng. Walid A. Abukhaled, CEO of SAMI, expressed pride in this collaboration, highlighting its significance in reinforcing connections with global defense industry leader L3Harris and underscoring the commitment of both organizations to profoundly enhance local capabilities in this crucial sector.
Eng. Ziad Al-Musallam, CEO of SAMI-AEC, reaffirmed the firm’s steadfast dedication to enhancing the Saudi defense manufacturing arena through strategic partnerships, with intentions to expand these collaborations. This strategy aligns perfectly with our vision to localize innovations customized for the defense sector. He proudly pointed out the company’s accomplishment in developing the key element of the Software-defined Radio (SDR) systems and underscored its essential role in augmenting the strengths of the Saudi Royal Land Forces.

SAMI and L3Harris have embarked on a joint venture concentrating on Electro-optical and Infrared (EO/IR) technologies, along with specialized mission systems within Saudi Arabia. Building upon a robust relationship, the two organizations have now inaugurated this new project, reinforcing their shared commitment to localizing top-tier technology through ongoing collaboration.
