Rostec Unveils Advanced Ammunition Plant in Venezuela: A Bold Step for Enhanced National Defense
The establishment is set to produce up to 70 million cartridges each year, greatly exceeding the nation’s defense capabilities
Rostec’s Rosoboronexport has completed phase I of the cartridge production plant aimed at manufacturing 7.62mm cartridges designed for Kalashnikov rifles in Venezuela. This facility is projected to generate up to 70 million cartridges annually, significantly enhancing the country’s defense capabilities by providing Venezuela with domestically-produced ammunition.
“Phase I of the Kalashnikov cartridge manufacturing plant in Venezuela features four cutting-edge production lines. Two of these lines are designated for ammunition equipped with steel-core projectiles, while the other two lines are specifically designed for tracer and blank rounds. Initiatives are already in place to launch additional production facilities soon to guarantee a comprehensive production cycle of cartridges and Kalashnikov assault rifles for the national armed forces, law enforcement, and various security agencies. This represents a pivotal moment in cultivating technological partnership with our primary collaborator in Latin America,” remarked Oleg Evtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec State Corporation.
Each production line possesses the capacity to generate tens of thousands of cartridges per shift. The testing regimen conducted at a quality assurance station confirmed the superiority and compliance of the items produced.
