Thales has finalized a contract to supply the Polish Military with five Combat Staff Trainer tactical training frameworks, which are set to be installed at multiple sites across Poland. This marks the inaugural occasion for the Polish armed forces to embrace a digital solution catering to their tactical training needs. The computer-driven simulation framework by Thales will facilitate collective training exercises within a virtual and cyber-secure ecosystem that mirrors the Polish Army’s operational theatres.

In contemporary military operations, every echelon within the command hierarchy must evaluate intricate datasets from various sources and formulate pivotal decisions expeditiously amidst high-pressure conflict scenarios. The Combat Staff Trainer from Thales empowers personnel at all organizational tiers to gear up for tactical missions in a remarkably authentic environment.

An AI-driven Computer Generated Forces (CGF) application assists in formulating the training scenarios and managing the virtual units involved in the mission. The Combat Staff Trainer solution comprises a comprehensive software toolkit to organize and oversee training sessions and perform after-action assessments. The CGF application simulates every movement of entities on the battlefield, factoring in terrain characteristics and the understood tactical context to accurately depict their behaviors. Both 2D and 3D models of the operational theatre will be employed to build scenarios in urban landscapes and diverse terrains (mountainous, desert, coastal, etc.), offering land force personnel a deeply immersive training experience.

The established Combat Staff Trainer framework is already deployed within the French Army. A series of enhancements and expanded capabilities will be introduced to fulfill the unique requirements of the Polish land forces, thereby enabling personnel at every level of the command hierarchy—from the dismounted soldier to the battalion commander—to participate in the exercises. 3D models of the actual weapon systems utilized by the Polish military will be crafted for a more engaging training atmosphere. The systems will be dispatched to five regiments of the Polish armed forces, each capable of simultaneously training up to 38 individuals.

The Combat Staff Trainer was conceived in France, with the systems scheduled for phased delivery over the next two years. Thales personnel based in Poland will oversee the installation and support of the five systems, working closely with local operators.
