VITEC Unveils Innovative FMV Solutions at IDEX, Strengthening Its Middle Eastern Footprint
VITEC will present its extensive lineup of Full Motion Video (FMV) technologies at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), from 20 to 24 February 2023, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Featured at the VITEC booth (01-B03) will be the military-grade MGW Pico+ TOUGH and MGW Diamond TOUGH encoders, along with FITIS™, an innovative video content management platform. In a bustling year of initiatives in the Middle East, VITEC inaugurated its own office in Dubai to enhance service in the region, supported by a dedicated team for sales, business growth, pre-sales, and post-sales to assist both existing clients and new prospects.
“We’re thrilled to expand our portfolio in the Middle East, and with our recent investments, we are ideally positioned to deliver exceptional service complemented by our cutting-edge IP streaming solutions for defense,” states Nicolas Pons, VP of Business Development Middle East at VITEC. “Our offerings provide the essential durability demanded by this rigorous market, combined with ultra-low latency to facilitate live operational streams and swiftly embed video into compelling visualizations. IDEX serves as an excellent platform for us to enhance our efforts in the region, engage with both new and established partners, and we are dedicated to sustainable growth.”

VITEC also hosted its inaugural Defence & Security event in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, collaborating with its partners ST Engineering iDirect and Synoptic Information. The event saw attendance from various government officials and leading system integrators in the security and defense sector.
As a pivotal contributor within the Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) domain, VITEC’s product array is engineered to withstand the demands and mission-critical nature of military and governmental tasks. The MGW Pico+ TOUGH has been crafted to deliver live tactical video to command centers from drones or unmanned aerial vehicles. The MGW Pico+ TOUGH overcomes any network bandwidth limitations to guarantee optimal video quality at minimal bitrate. Its capability to adjust bitrate ‘on the fly’ is a significant attribute, alongside the product’s refined size, weight, and power efficiency.
Also on display will be VITEC’s MGW Diamond TOUGH, a fanless, energy-efficient quad-channel HEVC and H.264 HD/SD encoder enclosed in a robust casing, designed to deliver various forms of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) or Situational Awareness video produced by land vehicles, aerial platforms, and naval vessels in extreme situations. The user-friendly encoder provides remarkable contrast and brightness in all settings due to its HDR support and utilizes advanced HEVC compression, enabling users to stream HD/SD video (up to 1080p60) while saving up to 50% bandwidth compared to current H.264 standards.
For the distribution and content administration of FMV streams and files, VITEC will showcase FITIS™, a comprehensive solution that can be swiftly deployed in the field or within a secure, hosted environment to function as the primary interface for overseeing live and recorded IPTV content, user access permissions, and video distribution workflows. This solution empowers decision-makers and analysts to view, archive, retrieve, and manipulate ISR footage and tactical military video streams expediently—an advantage that facilitates the use of live and recorded video for actionable, real-time intelligence within the observe-orient-decide-act (OODA) loop. Additionally, FITIS offers editing and collaboration features for analyzing and sharing video assets integrated with KLV/STANAG metadata.
