Embraer Lands Thrilling Contract for Six A-29 Super Tucanos with an Enigmatic Buyer

Embraer announced today a verified order for six lightweight assault and advanced training A-29 Super Tucanos commissioned by an undisclosed client. This procurement will be incorporated into the 4Q24 backlog, with deliveries expected in 2026.

These aircraft will incorporate upgraded capabilities to perform missions including battlefield air interdiction, close air support, maritime surveillance, maritime strike, and various national defense operations.

“We are thrilled to announce additional sales of the A-29 Super Tucano, as we consider this aircraft an exceptional solution for numerous nations globally,” commented Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “The A-29 remains the international leader in its category due to its established dependability and advanced design.”

As a multifunctional multi-mission aircraft, the A-29 Super Tucano provides air forces with flexibility for armed reconnaissance, close air support, light assault, and advanced training missions on a single platform, greatly enhancing the aircraft’s availability and operational versatility. Its robust airframe allows the aircraft to operate from unpaved runways in challenging environments.

The A-29 Super Tucano is the premier aircraft in its class, boasting over 290 orders and surpassing 570,000 flight hours, including 60,000 in combat operations. In 2024, Embraer reported new acquisitions of the Super Tucano for the Portuguese Air Force (A-29N), the Uruguayan Air Force, and the Paraguayan Air Force.
