“Forging Alliances: Saudi Arabia’s SAMI and Turkey’s Defense Giants Unite for Innovation”

The state-owned Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) announced early Thursday that it has entered into three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Turkish firms to “facilitate the localization of defense production” within the Kingdom.

In its announcement, SAMI disclosed that it has partnered with Türkiye’s drone manufacturer Baykar to “create production capabilities” and enhance systems for Baykar’s unmanned aerial systems in Saudi Arabia.

SAMI has also collaborated with Turkish aerospace and defense enterprise Aselsan to investigate prospects for advancing defense electronic technologies in the nation.

Furthermore, SAMI established a preliminary accord with Türkiye’s Fergani Space focused on the “advancement of pioneering technologies in the Kingdom to benefit the global space industry,” the announcement stated.
