Philippine Navy Boosts Fleet with €100 Million Deal for AgustaWestland AW159 Helicopters from Finmeccanica

Rome, 31 March 2016 – Finmeccanica has secured a substantial contract exceeding 100 million euros to provide the Philippine Navy with two advanced AgustaWestland AW159 helicopters. Manufacturing and delivery will take place at Finmeccanica’s Helicopter Division facility in Yeovil, United Kingdom, with an expected completion in 2018. This order also encompasses extensive training and long-term support, enhancing the Philippine Navy’s capabilities, alongside commitments made to the UK and the Republic of Korea. This contract underscores the lasting relationship between the Philippine Armed Forces and Finmeccanica, following prior collaborations in aeronautics and helicopter programs.

The AW159 helicopters will feature cutting-edge mission equipment and sensors, primarily focusing on anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare. Additionally, these helicopters will fulfill various functions such as search and rescue, maritime security, and maritime surveillance.
