“Revolutionizing Defense: KNDS Introduces Ukrainian Weaponry Division”
Kyiv/Amsterdam, 01. October 2024 – Boasting around 800 units in pre-deployment or under contract, alongside significant ammunition deliveries, the Franco-German defense alliance KNDS emerges as a pivotal industrial partner for the Ukrainian ground forces. The company has recently launched a subsidiary in Kyiv.
Operating under the title KNDS Ukraine LLC, it will promote cooperation between Ukrainian governmental bodies, the local defense manufacturing sector, and KNDS.
The formation of KNDS Ukraine seeks to empower the Ukrainian industry to perform maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on KNDS platforms – including the Leopard 1 and 2 main battle tanks, the CAESAR artillery system, the AMX10 RC vehicle, the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer, and the Gepard anti-aircraft system – thereby significantly improving the combat readiness of these assets. Simultaneously, KNDS and the Ukrainian manufacturing sector intend to jointly produce 155 mm artillery shells in Ukraine, alongside creating replacement parts using state-of-the-art production methodologies.
The establishment of KNDS Ukraine LLC is founded on a related Franco-German governmental initiative, the details of which were revealed on 22 March 2024 by Defense Ministers Sebastien Lecornu and Boris Pistorius in Berlin.
