Unleashing Adaptability: The SANCAR AUSV Experience

As advancements in technology continue to emerge, the occurrence and variety of security risks to the globe’s naval forces have escalated. Autonomous unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) incorporate sophisticated technologies into military divisions by perceiving the surroundings through sensor frameworks and executing crucial tasks such as ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) and defense. In the near future, armed unmanned surface vehicles will become an essential force enhancer for contemporary navies, addressing asymmetrical threats. To meet the demands of modern naval fleets, HAVELSAN has collaborated with Yonca Shipyard to create the SANCAR Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (AUSV).

Thanks to its modular architecture, the SANCAR AUSV allows for seamless integration of additional payloads into the platform to achieve anticipated objectives while simultaneously handling various tasks that may arise down the line.

The SANCAR AUSV is equipped with a robust communication framework based on RF/GSM/SAT systems, all functioning in concert. This capability empowers it to perform operations effectively over extensive distances.

The SANCAR AUSV marks the inaugural unmanned system deployed with the ADVENT ROTA (ADVENT C4ISR system tailored for unmanned systems) as its mission system. It can be operated from a mobile ground control station fitted with an ADVENT C4ISR mission framework that adheres to NATO interoperability criteria. This flexibility allows it to be utilized across various naval platforms utilizing ADVENT. Consequently, the SANCAR can delegate tasks among different vessels, engage in network-centric operations alongside manned and unmanned platforms, and allows simple adaptability for swarm missions. In this regard, the SANCAR AUSV boasts a technological framework that surpasses its international rivals.

Engineered to independently execute harbor and base security, search and rescue, ISR, patrolling, surface combat, and mine countermeasures, the SANCAR AUSV will reduce the hazards to human life while enabling numerous tasks to be completed more cost-effectively and efficiently with modular payloads. This versatility cements its position as one of the most adaptable platforms available.

Modern technologies for autonomous systems, including artificial intelligence and data fusion, were utilized during its development. It measures 12.73 meters in length, 3.3 meters in width, and has a displacement of 9 tons. The platform achieves speeds exceeding 40 knots and boasts a range surpassing 740 kilometers.

Due to its modular design, this platform can function effectively in up to four sea conditions and presents the option to incorporate various weapon and electronic systems. Regarding armament, the SANCAR AUSV features a stabilized 12.7 mm weapon system, with enhanced defensive capabilities achievable through the addition of a tactical missile system. The Mini Ship Data Distribution System is also integrated into the platform. A distinguishing aspect of the SANCAR AUSV is its incorporation of a telescopic mast equipped with a navigation radar camera and a collision avoidance system. This mast design further emphasizes the modular concept and grants flexibility for implementing novel systems.

The SANCAR AUSV, an advanced platform brimming with innovative technologies, is set to equip the world’s navies for future operational landscapes.
