Oshkosh Defense Chosen by National Advanced Mobility Consortium to Develop Next-Gen Tactical Truck Prototypes
Oshkosh Defense, LLC, a fully-owned subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, proclaimed today that the National Advanced Mobility Consortium (NAMC) has chosen Oshkosh Defense to engage in the U.S. Army’s Common Tactical Truck (CTT) prototype Other Transaction Authority.
“As the U.S. Army’s leading supplier of heavy, medium, and light tactical wheeled vehicle fleets, Oshkosh is exceptionally equipped to contribute to the CTT specifications,” stated Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer for Oshkosh Defense. “We anticipate collaborating with the U.S. Army to enhance their CTT preferred capabilities and ensure our Soldiers obtain the functionality they require and merit.”
Oshkosh Defense has developed six CTT variations, comprising a Load Handling System (LHS), Off-Road Tractor, Line Haul Tractor, Cargo, Wrecker, and Tanker. As a component of the prototype contract, Oshkosh Defense will construct and supply three variants to the U.S. Army for testing and evaluation.
Oshkosh Defense will utilize the established, battle-tested Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) platform for the CTT prototypes, ultimately delivering an enhanced version of the already proficient FHTV. The FHTV’s adaptable architecture empowers it to accommodate a diverse range of missions with the capability to scale up or down with minimal alterations to the vehicle.
For many years, Oshkosh Defense has collaborated with the U.S. Military to evolve, evaluate, and refine cutting-edge military and commercial technologies to integrate them onto the FHTV. The Oshkosh Defense CTT variants provide these innovations to fulfill the U.S. Army’s desired capabilities of active safety, fuel demand reduction, autonomy, mission flexibility, prognostics, commonality, and enhanced survivability.
Oshkosh Defense will additionally harness the resources, expertise, and technologies of the entire Oshkosh Corporation family of companies and customize them for rigorous military applications.
“We’ve been the U.S. Army’s dependable supplier of tactical wheeled vehicles for nearly 50 years. We comprehend the intricacies of the battlefield and the pressures that combat can impose on the vehicle fleet. No other manufacturer can assert that,” Williams added. “That insight, paired with our engineering expertise, positions us to deliver the most capable and economical CTT.”
