Canadian Government Partners with Lockheed Martin for C-130J Super Hercules Fleet Enhancement

Ottawa, Canada, July 7, 2016 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has secured a significant five-year contract extension, valued at approximately $504.3 million, from the Government of Canada. This extension is aimed at providing In-Service Support (ISS) for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) fleet of 17 C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, referred to as the CC-130J in Canada.

Lockheed Martin has been a trusted partner for the RCAF’s CC-130J fleet since 2007. This latest ISS contract extends their ongoing commitment. As the lead contractor, Lockheed Martin offers comprehensive performance-based logistics to support the operations, sustainment, and maintenance of the RCAF’s Super Hercules fleet.

“We are privileged to enhance our support for the RCAF’s CC-130J fleet through this contract extension,” stated George Shultz, vice president and general manager of Air Mobility & Maritime Missions at Lockheed Martin. “As the original equipment manufacturer, we leverage our deep knowledge and experience to deliver unmatched sustainment, enabling the Super Hercules fleet to accomplish missions anywhere, anytime.”

“Lockheed Martin Canada proudly observes the CC-130J as the workhorse of the Royal Canadian Air Force, assisting in various global missions, from humanitarian support to transporting troops and equipment in Canada’s remote regions. We are dedicated to ensuring the CC-130J fleet is mission-ready and consistently maintained to the highest standards,” remarked Charles Bouchard, chief executive of Lockheed Martin Canada. “Furthermore, we strive to ensure that the majority of maintenance work for the RCAF’s Hercules fleet is conducted in Canada, thereby sustaining high-value jobs within the Canadian aerospace sector.”

In addition to the ISS contract, the investments resulting from Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy will equate to the contract’s value. These investments will focus on research and development and will engage small and medium-sized enterprises from various Canadian industries. Lockheed Martin collaborates with a number of leading aerospace companies in Canada, including Cascade, IMP, CAE, Standard Aero, and Sonovision to support the ISS-related work.

The RCAF has a longstanding history with the CC-130, having first acquired CC-130Es in the 1960s, followed by the CC-130H fleet in 1996. In 2007, the Government of Canada procured 17 CC-130J Super Hercules aircraft, delivered between 2010 and 2012.

The C-130 Hercules is recognized globally as the standard for tactical airlift, in operation across 68 countries. With more than 2,500 C-130s delivered to date, the C-130J Super Hercules is the current production model and serves as the airlifter of choice for 16 nations and 19 operators. The Super Hercules fleet boasts over 1.3 million operational flight hours, demonstrating its reliability and efficiency.
