“Strengthening Ties: EDGE Launches Groundbreaking Border Security Initiative Between UAE and Angola”

EDGE Group has revealed that it is in the concluding phases of finalizing an accord with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Angola to initiate a holistic border security initiative, to be executed by its division BEACON RED.

The Letter of Intent (LOI) was executed by Omar Al Zaabi, President of EDGE Commercial, during the recent official visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to Angola, signifying a pivotal point in bilateral exchanges.

Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, stated: “This crucial initiative highlights EDGE’s fundamental strategy of providing advanced, UAE-originated defence and security solutions to international allies. Angola emerges as a progressive nation with a distinct vision for updating its national security framework, positioning it as an ideal collaborator in defining the future of border management. As one of the most prominent UAE-driven initiatives of its nature, it emphasizes the robustness of our defence industrial sector and our commitment to assisting governments in establishing sustainable, future-oriented national security capabilities.”

The programme will enable sustainable capability enhancement through the deployment of state-of-the-art command and control (C2) systems and mission-oriented training to boost situational awareness, operational preparedness, and swift reaction at vital border segments. The venture will be recognized as one of the most substantial UAE-led security programmes globally, showcasing EDGE’s established expertise in providing solutions that tackle intricate national security challenges.

EDGE’s border security framework seamlessly incorporates AI-driven analytics, surveillance UAVs, secure communication channels, and big data management alongside conventional defence mechanisms and multi-layered physical security. Each solution is customized to meet the specific operational requirements, terrain intricacies, and threat landscapes of the client, delivering modular, interoperable frameworks that guarantee improved situational insight and quick responsiveness across varied terrains.

This accord follows the EUR 1 billion agreement under which Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), a segment of EDGE Group, has been tasked with constructing BR71 MKII corvettes for the Angolan Navy.
