EDGE Expands Worldwide Influence in Non-Lethal Tech with CONDOR Acquisition

EDGE, one of the globe’s premier advanced technology and defence conglomerates, today declared the acquisition of 51% of Brazil-based CONDOR Non-Lethal Technologies (CONDOR), a leader among the top five entities in Non-Lethal Technologies (NLT) globally. This stake in CONDOR, which features the largest assortment of over 160 NLT products worldwide, will amplify EDGE’s capabilities and thrust the group to emerge as a global frontrunner in this highly-specialised sector spanning defence, public safety, and homeland security. Together, both firms aim to enhance market presence in various NLT segments around the world and to penetrate new strategically vital markets like the USA. The landmark agreement was formalised in Sao Paulo, witnessed by the senior leadership of both organisations.

CONDOR operates in over 85 nations and is the leading manufacturer of tear gas and associated products for military, civil defence, and public safety contexts. Additionally, it excels in various non-lethal offerings, including controlled impact rubber ammunition, smoke grenades, explosive and smoke hand grenades, pyrotechnics, tactical operation kits, sprays, drones equipped with chemical irritants and command & control functionalities, electrical incapacitation devices, and body-worn cameras with facial recognition, among a variety of other products.

Hamad Al Marar, EDGE Group Managing Director & CEO, remarked: “This is an immensely significant milestone for EDGE. Integrating CONDOR into our group paves the way for sustainable global advancement and innovation, empowering us to diversify our portfolio by collaborating with a proven global leader in the formulation and production of cutting-edge NLT solutions. It also visibly affirms that our strategy of forging beneficial ‘win-win’ alliances in Brazil and beyond is yielding tangible results and advantages to all involved on an international stage.

“Our world is currently undergoing a phase of heightened civil unrest, migration challenges, and public demonstrations, coupled with serious concerns regarding the levels of force deployed in combat scenarios within populated areas, asymmetric warfare, and post-conflict remediation, where non-lethal technologies play an integral role. The obstacles and pressures faced by concerned entities, from local law enforcement to defence agencies, continue to escalate as a result. By harnessing the expertise and insights offered by CONDOR, EDGE is positioned to enhance its existing capabilities to provide customers with an unmatched and centralised suite of technologies dedicated to safeguarding lives and human rights across diverse scenarios and circumstances.”

Last year, the global market for NLTs reached an estimated US$ 6 billion and is anticipated to experience substantial growth by the decade’s end.

Carlos Erane de Aguiar, CEO and founder of CONDOR, stated: “CONDOR stands as one of the most seasoned and advanced global pioneers in non-lethal technologies. This collaboration with EDGE, which has shown unwavering confidence in our company’s capabilities and in Brazil itself, further reinforces our dedication to cultivating a safer future for all. The founders of CONDOR are entirely confident that our ongoing commitment from both sides to pursue excellence in our field through relentless innovation will empower us to realize this vision, aiding local economic development in the State of Rio de Janeiro and the UAE. By merging our efforts from our highly skilled and experienced executives across the full spectrum of technologies necessary for the proportional and gradual application of force, alongside the economies of scale offered by EDGE Group, we believe this alliance of our proven expertise and commitment to quality will serve to benefit the entire defence and public security ecosystem in Brazil.”
