Anschütz Gears Up for the Inaugural Launch of Tamandaré

Anschuetz do Brasil to deliver regional technical proficiency for bridge systems

The Brazilian Tamandaré class frigate initiative is advancing significantly, and Anschütz is gearing up for the subsequent phase of the project. Following the provision of navigation systems in the initial half of the year, Anschütz commenced thorough technician training in mid-August in anticipation of the commissioning of the integrated bridge systems.

Anschütz secured the contract to furnish a complete SYNAPSIS NAVAL integrated bridge system for the new frigates alongside a bespoke package of integrated logistical support and an array of local services. Anschuetz do Brasil Sistemas Maritimos Ltda., based in Rio de Janeiro, will oversee the local service operations for these systems and will serve as the primary contact for the client.

“We take great pride in our role in a programme that delivers substantial benefits to Brazil, propels the maritime sector and innovation, and enhances the safety of our waters,” stated Leandro Pinto, Managing Director at Anschuetz do Brasil. “With unwavering dedication and excellence in technology and service, we are paving the way as the Anschütz team in collaboration with the Brazilian Navy.”

A cohort of Brazilian technicians has now completed training, acquiring extensive knowledge regarding advanced navigation, control, and bridge systems from a manufacturer’s standpoint. Consequently, they will be adept at providing Anschütz’s clientele with top-notch service. The technical support will be accessible to the client throughout the lifespan of the new vessels, commencing with commissioning and trials.

The SYNAPSIS NAVAL integrated bridge system for the Tamandaré class frigates will encompass multifunctional workstations tailored for specialized radar and Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) applications, in addition to steering, autopilot, closed-circuit television, and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

With SYNAPSIS NAVAL, the Brazilian frigates will be outfitted with a high-quality and dependable Warship Integrated Navigation and Bridge System (WINBS), currently employed in the most demanding naval undertakings globally. Its high scalability and open system architecture allow for optimal adaptation to both present and future needs of the Brazilian Navy.

The Tamandaré class frigate initiative is executed through the transfer of cutting-edge technologies and comprehensive local work packages. The programme achieved another significant milestone in early August when the Brazilian Navy commemorated the launch of the first vessel at thyssenkrupp Estaleiro Brasil Sul in Itajaí, Santa Catarina.

The Tamandaré class frigates represent some of the most sophisticated vessels ever constructed in Brazil.
