RTX Unveils Innovative Ground Control System for the U.S. Air Force’s Mobile Operations

Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX, has supplied vehicle-mounted air traffic control systems to the U.S. Air Force, ensuring effective air traffic management in the most challenging environments.

The systems – referred to as Air Traffic Navigation, Integration, and Coordination Systems (ATNAVICS) – are comprehensive air traffic control solutions that can be easily transported to support more challenging conditions. These systems are equipped with advanced Primary Surveillance Radars, boasting remarkable range capabilities.

“These autonomous air traffic control solutions can be deployed swiftly with a minimal team,” said Philippe Limondin, vice president and general manager of Resilient Navigation Solutions at Collins Aerospace. “The system is engineered to serve as a complete air traffic management tool, allowing personnel in the field to have surveillance, precise landing, and identification-friend-or-foe features readily available.”

Collins’ ATNAVICS radars facilitate air traffic services even in adverse weather and challenging conditions. The product is equipped with state-of-the-art transmitter technology, leading to enhanced efficiency.

ATNAVICS supports the U.S. Air Force’s Agile Combat Employment doctrine, delivering expeditionary air traffic management, integrated mission command, and operational readiness in highly contested scenarios.

Currently, ATNAVICS is in active deployment across the globe with the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Air Force, now also available for expanded international operations through direct commercial sales.
