“Unveiling RTX’s SeaVue: The Game-Changing Radar Delivering Precision Targeting at RIMPAC”

Raytheon, a division of RTX, successfully showcased the SeaVue Multi-role Radar’s exceptional long-range target identification during the U.S. Navy’s Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) – recognized as the globe’s largest international naval exercise.

During a Sink Exercise, or SINKEX, an MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Unmanned Aerial Vehicle from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. employed SeaVue Multi-role Radar (SVMR) for surveillance and imaging to monitor several targets and transmit tracking data to F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet jets. The jets utilized the information from the radar to effectively launch a Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) at the decommissioned amphibious assault vessel, the USS Tarawa (LHA-1), demonstrating SVMR’s network-enabled, long-range munitions deployment capabilities.

“SVMR confirmed its capability to obtain high-fidelity targeting information essential for successful munitions engagement in a maritime setting,” stated Bryan Rosselli, president of Advanced Products & Solutions at Raytheon. “The live-fire drill allowed us to assess and confirm SVMR’s functionality to ensure it can deliver the situational awareness required in active operations – facilitating quicker decision-making and more effective strike chains.”

SVMR is a state-of-the-art, software-defined radar that ensures all-weather monitoring and outstanding multi-mission proficiency for both manned and unmanned aircraft, covering fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and aerostat platforms.

Drawing on over 60 years of cutting-edge surveillance radar advancements, SVMR offers extended range and small target identification from operational heights, providing a more capable and efficient approach to monitoring and safeguarding. It features a modular and scalable design that allows cost-effective upgrades and maintenance, and has undergone extensive flight evaluation for both low and high-altitude surveillance applications.
