“Charting New Horizons: Hanwha and WB Group Collaborate on Cutting-Edge Missile Production in Poland”
On the opening day of the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO), Hanwha Aerospace and WB Group formalized a crucial agreement to establish a Polish-Korean collaborative entity that will enhance the localization of manufacturing for CGR-080 (approximately 80 km) guided missiles designed for the HOMAR-K multi-launch rocket system employed by the Polish Armed Forces.
The partnership will undertake a systematic technological transfer program, supported by a certified quality assurance framework and structured workforce enhancement. Initial serial production is expected to gradually increase and reach a mature stage before the end of 2028.
The facility is projected to generate around 250 skilled employment opportunities in Poland while outlining a strategic blueprint for new rocket variants customized to meet the future needs of Poland and its allied countries, in accordance with Polish defense procurement standards and Republic of Korea export regulations.
The agreement was endorsed by Mr. Jaeil Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, and Piotr Wojciechowski, President of WB Group, along with Władysław Marcin Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, and Minister of National Defence during a ceremony attended by senior officials from government and industry.
“This is arguably the most notable event of this year’s MSPO,” commented Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz during the ceremony. “We are securing the capability to manufacture missiles for the Homar-K launcher. It’s a pivotal milestone. We are enhancing our self-reliance in defense manufacturing. We’re not just acquiring weapons – we’re establishing their production within Poland.”
Mr. Piotr Wojciechowski remarked, “This missile production facility signifies a landmark investment in Poland, primarily focused on strengthening national security by ensuring domestic production of essential munitions. The initiative also includes further enhancement of the CGR-080 missile system and new guided rockets to meet evolving defense requirements.”
Mr. Son stated, “This collaborative initiative will localize CGR-080 production, transfer essential knowledge, and co-develop next-generation munitions alongside our Polish partners. It symbolizes an investment in resources, personnel, and technology in Poland, aimed at promoting a safer Europe.”
