
Saab Secures Contract for a Comprehensive Air Defense System in Sweden
Saab has officially finalized a deal with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration and has received an order for an integrated sensor and command and control system tailored for ground-based air defense applications. The total value of the order is approximately 2.1 billion SEK (around $250 million), with the contract spanning from 2020 to 2025.
This agreement encompasses several of Saab’s multifunctional radar systems, specifically the Giraffe 4A, along with enhancements to the existing Giraffe AMB surface radars utilized by the Swedish Armed Forces. Additionally, Saab will modernize current command and control systems, while also providing further deployments and extensive integration of the fire units within the air defense battalions.

This contract signifies a crucial opportunity for Saab, and we take pride in contributing a fundamental component of Sweden’s defense capabilities,” states Anders Carp, the deputy CEO of Saab and the head of the Surveillance business area.
Saab will execute the project in various locations including Gothenburg, Järfälla, Arboga, and Halmstad in Sweden.
