“Turkish Aerospace Unveils Ambitious Project: Europe’s Next Largest Wind Tunnel for Fighter Jet Innovation”

Turkish Aerospace is constructing the largest wind tunnel facility in Turkey and the second-largest subsonic wind tunnel in Europe. This facility is in progress to perform wind tunnel evaluations for the Turkish Fighter. The wind tunnel aims to facilitate the advancement of domestic rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft, with a particular emphasis on the Turkish Fighter.

The tunnel will feature three distinct test sections: large, small, and open. The experimental specimens will be stationed in these areas and will be fitted with cutting-edge measurement and sensing technologies for enhanced testing.

Equipped with a sophisticated integrated moving ground belt system, this tunnel will be the sole location in Turkey for conducting landing and take-off tests for aircraft. Beyond these testing abilities, the production, integration, and instrumentation of the models scheduled for evaluation will also take place at this facility, making significant strides in the product development lifecycle.

Prof. Temel Kotil, President and CEO of Turkish Aerospace, stated, “We are developing Europe’s second-largest subsonic wind tunnel facility. We are committed to realizing our flagship project, the Turkish Fighter. Our facility will be unique in Turkey, possessing the capability for aeroacoustic testing.”
