KNDS France: Pioneering group to deliver a comprehensive assortment of remotely operated ammunition.

At the IDEX exhibition, KNDS France showcases its cutting-edge remotely operated ammunition solutions: the MATARIS drone lineup, inspired by the historic Gallic projectile armament crafted to breach enemy defenses. MATARIS features four categories of remotely operated ammunition, addressing short, medium, and long-range functions: MT-10, MX-10, MV-25, and MV-100 (the latter currently in the demonstrator phase).

The MT-10 and MX-10 represent short-range options: a bi-rotor contra-rotating drone and a quadcopter, respectively. They can deploy a 550g controlled fragmentation military payload at a distance of roughly 10 km, boasting an endurance of 40 minutes. The MV-25, hand-deployable, can also project the same payload but reaches out to 25 km due to its fixed-wing design. The MV-100 demonstrator amplifies this reach to 100 km, powered by a turbine for increased speed and equipped with a 2.5 kg anti-armor warhead. This demonstrator is engineered not only for neutralizing heavily fortified targets but also for executing reconnaissance operations.

Flexible, user-friendly, and capable of targeting a diverse array of opponents, MATARIS signifies the latest advancement from KNDS France in the realm of remotely operated ammunition.

The product of a groundbreaking development period

Merely two years passed from the inception of the MV-25’s development to its deployment in Ukraine. Chosen in 2022 as part of the COLIBRI project initiative by the French Defense Innovation Agency, the MV-25 successfully underwent a live-flight assessment with an active warhead in June 2024.

Identifying the scarcity of remotely operated munitions within the French military arsenal, the Ministry of the Armed Forces recognized an immediate demand for such solutions. Capitalizing on its munitions expertise, KNDS responded in record time, becoming the first French group—in collaboration with DELAIR, EOS, and TRAAK—to develop and present this assortment of solutions, now collectively referred to as MATARIS.
